A Memory

She has a memory of meals
prepared everyday
without fanfare
on an old wood burning stove
Kettle boiling, stew simmering,
scent of spice settling
Table laden with crockery, cutlery,
tea pot, mugs, buns and butter,
and, alongside,
two chairs,
waiting

  2. Whistles!!❤️💘This is absolutely gorgeously penned, Linda😀 No doubt women, be them mothers, wives, daughters prepare meals at home without any sort of expectations that lead to praise. Their love and their actions are unconditional. Thank you so much for participating at Prompt Nights and for your constant love and support❤️💘

    Lots of love,

  3. Love the picture your poetry paints, just as much as I adore the scent of a wood burning stove... Memories can be so delicious.

  4. I too have memories of such a kitchen (although there were four of us!) and none of the food had chemicals or preservatives in! What a delightful poem.
