Manin’ at ya

There you are
Blue eye’in me
Ya cherried yer lips fer me
Ya smiled into my gut

Here I am

Can’t quite get em out
Wanna hero up

What Price Love

What price love?
The kind that bestows moist kisses
Gentle touches
Bodies entwined floating
in a sea of bliss
shared sleep
lovers’ dreams
the litanies of needs met

What price love?
The kind that bears a grudge,
impatiently forgiving
misdemeanors
Sleepless nights
Restless dreams
plans fading into loss
The litanies of needs unmet

What price love?
The kind that steals away,
nights apart, hopes fading,
Blasphemies spoken and unspoken
Points taken
The question unanswered
Tears
The litanies of needs erased

Spring

Poetry form : Fold

Let Spring be my antidote for pain
from self-sacrificing terrorists with guns
who strike  and maim  and kill  again
My heart bleeds for all the lives we’ve lost
let empathy be my antidote for pain
May sight of flowers blooming of a morn
Reduce the images of all the families slain
As I feel the softness of clover underfoot
I’m  thinking counter measures seem in vain
May I cope with thoughts and not give way to fear
Let courage be my antidote for pain

Wish

I see your big eyes
stare at me

I hear your song at dusk

Is there a handsome
prince for me?

within your
slimy husk

Molly's

wet tongue awakens me
dark eyes question me
loud barks warn me
head butts urge me
soft snores endear me

Motion to Amend

To the powers that be
(whoever is thee)
This petition to you
For an amendment or two

The heavenly virtues
We’ll leave them  alone
At least ‘till our children
Are all fully grown

There’s a couple of sins
We’d like you to tweak
A minor adjustment
is all that we seek

Lust between spouses
Thee should permit
Without which these partnerships
Surely will split

The next sin is gluttony
here we humbly express
Without it our holidays
could all end in distress

Christmas and Easter,
thanksgiving and such
Just are’t the same
When we don’t eat too much

With penalties lifted
from only these two
Those remaining five
will be easier to chew

Deny

''
"Canst thou not minister to a mind diseas'd,
Pluck from the memory a rooted sorrow,
Raze out the written troubles of the brain,
And with some sweet oblivious antidote
Cleanse the stuff'd bosom of that perilous stuff
Which weighs upon the heart?''

She procrastinates
sits with her Ipad
meticulously crafting jigsaw puzzles

 A week's worth of dishes
pile high in the sink
dust bunnies everywhere

laundry too

The dog has to pee
OK
up for that

thank goodness

Why, why, why,
no answer

when when when
no answer

who, who, who
no answer

Celebrate?
What

This puzzle
isn't
pretty

Remnant

"One can live without having survived." Carolyn Forche

Supplicating among them
unobserved
wallowing on concrete
who will see her
anyone?

Hunger eats the heart out
thirst fogs the brain
life a remnant

Scorn drips from
a hundred feet
shod in ignorance

Apathetic to pain
she drifts out
and away

leaving them behind

Phoenix

Is it a dream?

Those nights when I morph into
a scarlet phoenix

rising from ash
riding the thermals
high into the heavens

Shedding tears
to sooth the desolate
giving hope to multitudes
whose quandary it is to foresee.

Unceasing in empathy
compassion filling the void

onward and upward
to the sun

kindled to ash

beginning again
